OK...I see,

Respiro is a build for continuous expression. Velocity trigger sounds are not (yet) supported because these require other mechanism to control pressure in the model.

You can however do following trick
A) assign one controller of your keyboard to CC02 and open up this controller so it stays at about 80%. Doing this will tell Respiro that breath is coming in.
B) play your keyboard in a monophonic manner

As long as CC02 is not dropping to zero you will be able to play notes.
We will also add Aftertouch support to Respiro.

Hi Heinz

some time ago i bought a super synth. In the preset list i had several saxes, Trumpets flutes etc.
while the pianos, xylphones, electric piano's , etc sounded great, all the windinstruments were no where realistic.
Very disappointing for a saxophone player.

I could solve the problem very simple :: add a <strong>wind-controller</strong> !!

A<strong> Yamaha BC3</strong> for playing keyboard, with wind control: a relatively cheap solution, and one doe not need to learn a flute or Sax fingering.
In my case also a WX7, which imitates a sax.

Reason : <strong>Velocity control</strong> versus <strong>wind-control</strong>.

All keyboards work with Velocity control, basically inherited from the piano.
What happens when you press a key on a piano: A hammer is lifted and falls on a string, The speed of the hammers depends on how fast one presses the key. Faster is louder. No control is possible over the sound other than the release of the key, with dampens the string.

What happens on a midi (synth )keyboard: when you press a key a<strong> note on</strong> action is generated. with two parameters: which not it is, and which what speed it is pressed. One value : not a series of values : yes i am still pressing the key.
when one relases they key a note off is generated , which not and with what velocity it is released.

with breath, and with bow, a continuous signal is generated: with note value and loudness information. those values can change during the generation of the tone.

as you can see, velocity cannot release breath.

Rudy suggested to replace breath with aftertouch. This is a signal generated whine one presses the keyboard, and is not key depended.

I hope this was somehow clear, if not, do not hesitate to ask questions

Kind regards

Frank

Does this mean that one cannot use Respiro, and other wind synths with a keyboard?

Yes you can!

Not that i think one can have the intimate control one has over a single voice with a wind-controller.

I do not know what keyboard you intend to use with Respiro - or a bank of Respiro's.
But Synths like Respiro are begging for extra information after the onset of a tone, and during the tone.
And those keyboards exist!

The Imox guys have understood this very well and have incuded the mpe mode to Respiro.

Actually Hans<, also active on this forum gave a first example: with his Roli device !

>strike glide slide press lift
are Roli's expressions for 5 dimensions of touch see roli.com/products/seaboard/rise-49

as an example

Keith McMillen ( www.keithmcmillen.com/products/k-board-pro-4/ )

has three devices : The K-board 4 , and to a lesser extend the Qunexus and the kboard

while i am strictly a wind-player, i use two Qunexus on stage: what do i do with them? i structure and enhance the harmonic contents , tune the reverb,

A cute Respiro/ MPE controller for keyboard players ( Not only) is www.play-joue.com/en/ Intersting concept !

So velocity does not help you much But MPE does

Kind regards

Frank
